Brendan Sheil
Co-founder & President
Brendan Sheil has over 25 years of commercial healthcare experience and a proven record of sound fiscal and strategic planning. Mr. Sheil recently served as President and Chief Executive Officer of PogoTec, Inc., a wearable technology company, from August 2017 – August 2018 and is a member of its board of directors since December 14, 2016. Prior to PogoTec, Mr. Sheil was the Founder and President of Synergy Ophthalmic Solutions, a medical device, pharmaceutical and consulting firm from November 2009 to August 2017, where he, among other responsibilities, oversaw the operation, growth and maintenance of a multi-state product distribution for surgeons. Previously, Mr. Sheil spent more than a decade at Bausch & Lomb as a member of the Sr. Executive Team both while Bausch & Lomb was a public company as well as serving through the transition back to a private entity. Mr. Sheil received a Bachelor of Science in Business from Iowa State University in 1990.
Joshua Schoenbart
Co-founder
Joshua Schoenbart recently served as Chief Commercial Officer of PogoTec, Inc. from September 2017 – August 2018. From June 2015 to September 2017, Mr. Schoenbart oversaw strategy, business development and corporate development activities at PogoTec and was a member of its founding team. Prior to joining PogoTec, Mr. Schoenbart founded, and served as the Chief Executive Officer of The EyeBook, a comprehensive database of eye care professionals in the optometric industry, from August 2011 to June 2016. In 2014, Mr. Schoenbart served as one of six entrepreneurs to represent the United States at the G20 Young Entrepreneurs’ Alliance in Sydney, Australia, and was selected to serve as a delegate for United States at the World Entrepreneurship Forum in Lyon, France. Mr. Schoenbart is a recipient of the Future Global Leader Award from Web Summit 2014. Mr. Schoenbart graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College in 2016.
John Blanck
Partner
John Blanck has over 26 years of experience in ambulatory surgery center management for a publicly-traded national company, leading the strategic development and day-to-day operations of ASCs, working with over hundreds of physicians and associates. He is an expert at designing winning syndication solutions for physician-owners, management companies and industry. He has developed ASCs, remodeled sites, and led relocations. As Senior Vice President at Surgery Partners, John was the ophthalmology leader for the company championing growth strategies, partner relations, and revenue cycle management. Before embarking in healthcare, he was CFO for an advertising agency for 16 years. John earned his CPA, graduating from University of Missouri and worked with Big Five accounting firms. His
well-rounded financial, business and healthcare experiences integrate his skills, passion, and experience to support Synergy Ventures clients in structuring business opportunities.
John was a member the Outpatient Ophthalmic Surgery Society Board of Directors for over 10 years and was Treasurer for the Missouri Ambulatory Surgery Center Association for 15 years. He remains actively involved in the ASC and ophthalmic industries.
Rob Messerli
Partner
Rob has 30+ years of experience in full-time, interim and fractional CFO and COO roles. He has also been part of the founding teams for multiple startups and has acquired and operated businesses as a private investor. Rob excels at working with entrepreneurs to anticipate and successfully navigate the inflection points every growing business faces.
In addition to leading finance and accounting teams, Rob has first-hand experience in numerous disciplines including business formation, capital raising, patents, licensing, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, research and development, sales and marketing, and incentive compensation plans. This breadth of experience, spanning several industries ranging from aesthetics to insurance to software to waste remediation to sports entertainment, enables him to analyze problems and opportunities from multiple perspectives and craft innovative solutions.
